Just Jason Dance Company @ Maastricht
My name is Jason Leckie and I was born and raised in Suriname on sunshine, videogames and dancing. At the age of 19 I came to the Netherlands to study medicine. I ended up studying Biological Health sciences and afterwards Health Education and Promotion. The latter felt more at home to me than the previous and although both these choices were pretty logical ones, the didn’t quite feel as right to me as my next choice in life.
It was on the dance-floor where I truly felt alive. Something I believe I inherited from my father. I later found out I had a inborn talent for teaching, something I might have derived from my Mom who is a teacher of English. In 2007 I co-founded Ardesqo Dance Company together with Mautje Hous. I was following my heart with no indication of whether or not it would succeed. I am very proud to say that with hard work, dedication and a lot of fun & love Ardesqo grew to be one of the biggest Salsa dance-schools in Maastricht if not Limburg. And as far as I know we were the only teachers whose full-time job was teaching Salsa and although it was a lot of hard work, I loved every minute of it.
There was a vision for the school: providing high quality, high level dancing compliant to international standards while never ever forgetting why we dance: To have fun. The injection of our Caribbean culture in the classes always ensured that there was a warmth, a Love, a homey feeling emanating from everything Ardesqo did, something I fully intend to continue to do with my own Company: Just Jason
During this time I also developed my knowledge of Salsa music n order to be able to create the right atmosphere at any Salsa party. As a DJ and dance-school owner I was involved in various high profile parties. I was the main organizer for the very popular Multi-Level parties at de Kadans as well as Ardesqo’s big 5 year anniversary. Not to mention the hundreds of weekly and monthly social dancing events where I was resident DJ. The big social dance evenings at dance-central Bernaards is one of the prime examples of my DJ-ing and organizing skills. And most importantly, ask any of the visitors and they will tell you that those parties are always very much fun.

I use my 10+ years of dancing experience and my 5+ years of teaching experience to provide you with quality classes & workshops as well as make you feel at ease in this journey called dance. I have a very primal passion for this music called Salsa as well as the dance that accompanies it. And my goal is to relay this feeling to you, the future dancers.
