My name is Laura Argudin, a Cuban-born pianist, composer, and bandleader based in Rotterdam.

My music is deeply rooted in the rhythms and melodies of Cuba, combined with the creative energy of the Dutch jazz scene.

I am fascinated by the meeting point between Afro-Cuban rhythms, modern jazz harmony, and improvisation. Through my compositions and performances, I try to tell stories — about identity, and connection — always guided by rhythm and interaction with the musicians around me.

Over the past years I have performed in many different ensembles, but this project is very close to my heart: it brings together my musical roots and my life in the Netherlands in one personal sound.

? About Beatriz
Beatriz is my newest band and my first project as a bandleader with a fixed quintet. Together with four incredible musicians we create a fresh, modern Latin jazz sound:

Our music is rooted in Cuban traditions and enriched with influences from Latin jazz, West African rhythms, and contemporary improvisation. It is energetic, lyrical, and deeply rhythmic — music that invites you to listen, move, and travel with us.

? The Debut Album
We have already recorded our first album, and I am incredibly proud of the result. This recording captures the essence of Beatriz: collective playing, strong grooves, and personal compositions that reflect my journey between Cuba and the Netherlands.
