Za 15 nov 2025: Afro-Rumba in Timba Bootcamp – MenStyle in Amsterdam

Join this event to blend Afro-Cuban movements and Rumba Columbia into Timba.

We’ll use lyrics and rhythm to feel and understand the music, helping your dance flow naturally with authentic Cuban sabor and a deeper connection to the rhythm.

A perfect chance to level up your Timba and express the music with confidence.

Date: Saturday, November 15

Time: 11:00–14:00

Location: Baila Bel Air, Anthony Fokkerweg 3, 1059 CM Amsterdam

Level: For the first two hours (Orisha Changó and Rumba Columbia) the level is open, as we’ll build the class based on the group’s pace and learning. The goal is to solidly integrate the basic movements and their variations, step by step.

For the Afro-Cuban Dance in Timba class, to get the most out of it, it’s recommended to have some experience dancing freestyle steps in Timba, since the music in this style is more explosive and dynamic.

In the bootcamp you`ll learn:

• 11:00 – 12:00 | Orisha Changó: Connect with the energy of Changó and learn his powerful, warrior-like movements through the Aluyá rhythm, understanding the meaning behind each gesture.

• 12:00 – 13:00 | Rumba Columbia: We’ll dive into Rumba Columbia, a solo male style that blends creativity, strength, and rhythm. We’ll work on arms, shoulders, and feet to build coordination, expression, and style, with progressions suitable for all levels.

• 1:00 – 2:00 PM | Afro-Cuban Dance in Timba: Discover the Afro-Cuban elements in the lyrics and rhythm of Timba, and learn how to integrate Rumba Columbia into your MenStyle, using your shoulders, arms, and legs to add more freedom, flavor, and expression to your dance.
